1. 2010 Human Development Report, The Real Wealth Of Nations: Pathways To Human Development. The annual United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) report on human development was released this week. Celebrated economist Amartya Sen provides input, the 236 annal retrospectively analyses development by identifying trends and patterns that can be used in the future. As expected, African countries are still laggards in the Human Development Indicators, which will be analysed next week here by Development Afrique.

2. Doing Business 2011, World Bank. The annual World Bank Doing Business Report is regarded as the publication that shows the countries making positives moves towards business start ups and ease of doing business. Last year, the African country that made waves was Rwanda which was among the best global reformers, this year, Rwanda again perform wonders, along with Cape Verde and Zambia. Again, Development Afrique will analyse these reports next week.

3. All Africa Energy Week 2011. Africa as a continent has many sources of energy, but it is common for black outs, or inconsistent supplies. This has led to inefficient production and capacity, and with a growing continental population, energy sources need to be harnessed for a future of increased demand. This conference is what the Africa Union and their ministers aim to achieve for this reality.
